Colbert "Cole" Hamels was born on December 27th, 1983. he was born in San Diego, California. Cole went to Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego. according to tony gwynn, a bunch of scouts were interested in Hamels because when he pitched at his school, his fastball clocked in as high as 94 mph. But he broke his arm in his sophomore year, so some teams, including the San Diego padres lost interest in Cole. even though that happened, the phillies still drafted him in the 2002 major league baseball draft. Hamels was called to play for the phillies in May of 2006. Cole has been pitching as a left handed starting pitcher for the phills ever since.
